Diamond no Ace Episode Scribbles

Ace of the Diamond Epi 7 & 8: Eijuns frustrations

Coming back from a hiatus. Plus with a change in format. Just how will Eijun deal with his new battery Chris?.

Hey up everyone, after a hiatus the coverage is back. Partly the reason why it went on a hiatus (aside from being tired and my kitty wanting my attention all the time). I’ve been contemplating of changing up the format, rather than cover the episodes as separately (see previous posts), make the post in to a seamless one. I will be adding small clips (big shout out to space whale for inspiring me) and screenshots (more than I usually add in my posts).

Diamond ace - Eijun getting beaten up
Epi 7 – them boys should be pro wrestlers not baseball players!!!

Good lord, I don’t think I’ve laughed so much. Masuko and Kuramochi think Eijun is down-hearted from Masuko getting a home run from Eijun’s pitches. However, upon entering their dorm room, notice Eijun playing a video game and did the unthinkable – he ate Masuko’s pudding (okay that isn’t what made it funny). What Kuramochi does is unbelievable. He uses wrestling moves on Eijun, I laughed so hard πŸ˜‚πŸ€£πŸ˜‚πŸ€£πŸ˜‚πŸ€£. These are the moves that were used on Eijun; dropkick, sleeper choke, cobra twist, arm bar lock, a figure four leg lock and a sharpshooter. What aggravated Kuramochi even more is Eijun’s childhood friend Wakana leaves a message – thinking that’s Eijun’s girl friend. What made it even funnier, Masuko joined with a double submission move, locked in on Eijun. Mostly to avenge his eaten pudding. Rei had a meeting with Kataoka, he pretty much confirmed what I already knew, whilst Miyuki in terms of raw talent is superior, followed by Furuya, who is the strongest pitcher. Eijun has the potential to surpass both of them.

Speaking of Furuya and Miyuki, the two had a late night training spar. And Miyuki evaluated Furuya abilities. The curious thing, I didn’t suspect that Furuya would be terrible as an in-fielder or have such low endurance. I found it amusing that he came last, and that’s with Eijun with a tire around his waist. I’m not sure what they mean by battery, from the sounds of it, it’s like mentoring? By looking it up on Wikipedia, it’s the teaming up of the pitcher and catcher. They work as a duo. A person called Chris has been chosen to work with Eijun, whilst Miyuki is working with Furuya. This greatly upset Eijun, his reaction as to how Miyuki knows Furuya’s ability is fairly amusing. Chris and Eijun didn’t hit it off immediately. Not surprising considering that Chris wrote out a work regime for Eijun enraged him.

Epi 8 – All that matter is tires

It’s pretty clear that Eijun is not pleased with Chris. Nor his training regime. Anything the whole regime that Chris gave to Eijun infuriates him to no end, yet he still did it. But not without consulting Masuko and Kuramochi, I found it very funny that they made a remark on how the training regime looks more like it is a wrestlers’ regime, given that in episode 7, they actually were using wrestling moves on Eijun. From the looks of it, the regime is designed to reduce injury whilst building up strength and stamina. Next bit I found absolutely hilarious πŸ˜‚πŸ˜‚. Eijun, still infuriated with Chris, was given a new regime. This sent him over the edge, all he wants to train with is the tire. Apparently, the team were to have a local friendly match. Eijun remarks with distain how Chris leaves practice early. I do think it is irresponsible of Chris to leave Eijun to practice on his own, understandably there is a reason, as to why he leaves practice. If being frustrated with Chris isn’t enough. Watching Furuya and Miyuki train infuriates him even further. His meltdown is humorousπŸ˜‚πŸ˜‚.

During the match between Seidou and Yokohama, will have to say Yokohama were beating Seidou. Until they pulled out their “ace” and that ace being Furuya. On his debut, Furuya caught the eyes of everyone plus taking at least 6 players with strikeouts. Highly impressive for a debut, sadly they still got beat. It’s without any surprise that Eijun is frustrated throughout this episode. Doesn’t help when Chris pretty much tells him to wait, in due time he will be that ace, for now to let Furuya have the spot light. Eijun doesn’t take it too well, frustration at breaking point. He tells Chris to just quit, if he can’t be bothered any more. I don’t blame him either, Chris seemed indifferent to Eijun. Naturally, Eijun took his complaints to Rei. Miyuki just happened to catch the two of them, leaving Eijun even more red-faced. What happened next is truly unexpected. The naturally cool, level-headed Miyuki got angry at Eijun for even suggesting that Chris should just quit. This shocked Eijun greatly, promoting Rei to make Eijun understand Chris better. It turns out that Chris was playing with a shoulder injury that no one noticed. The excuse why he isn’t playing is he is in rehabilitation. It’s also made clear why Miyuki got angry with Eijun – Miyuki looks up to Chris.

I enjoyed both episodes, the frustrations that Eijun had is actually understandable. Wanting to be the ace and having to sit on the side-line, because he isn’t good enough showed through out. What really got me laughing is when Kuramochi and Masuko were doing wrestling moves on Eijun. I felt like the WWE should hire them boys as a tag team πŸ˜‚πŸ˜‚. Chris, he really played off the indifference well, adding the tension between him and Eijun that much more poignant.

Eijun not happy
furuya pitching in a match
Eijun having no idea and being a bad out fielder
Chris back in the day when he was playing baseball before injury

Scribble down, and I’ll catch you on the next post!

Episodes 7 to 8 were pretty important given that they were one of the first few episodes that EIjun got introduced to Chris, who plays a monumental part in his early growth πŸ˜‰ The humour was on point as well haha. I still remember being shocked that Masuko was so sad when Eijun ate his pudding lol xD

I was laughing so hard on that episode πŸ˜‚πŸ˜‚πŸ˜‚, those wrestling moves and how masuko was crying 🀣🀣🀣. I can’t wait to see how Eijun grows!!. Even though I watch it at a slow pace I’m absolutely enjoying it
